"There were 7 Adult teams in the Novice division. I quizzed with Sue Green on her team. We finished in a 3 way tie for second. We decided to do a individual one-on-one instead of a playoff. We had the most points, but lost to the other 2 teams we were tied with. They went on head-to-head and so we got 4th. Our 1st round was a bye and so round 2 our first match I ended up with only 10 points and we lost. I quizzed out on all the remaining rounds but Sue had a bad last round and we lost that one. We did beat the #1 team. On the one-on-one we had 3 rounds. In the 1st round the top 3 advanced. I advanced and Sue didn't. In the second round you had to finish in 1st to advance. I tied for 1st with a quizout and 100 points. On the sudden-death question I hit and I needed 1 more syllable to the question of "How much sa". I made up sometime for "How much salt", but on the reread the question was "How much sawdust is in your brothers eye?". When the quizmaster reread, everyone was surprised as we were all thinking "salt". We had 3 quizmasters and 2 of them were seniors and read fast and would bleed the whole word sawdust but this match Craig Wyatt was quizmaster and stopped on a dime. Oh well. It was fun. The person I tied with finished 2nd in the final round. She was a quizzer from Burlington Vt.. that had quizzed against Tina at Regionals. Small world." John Nardozzi
